56-57

The Titans played their final game of the season last night at the State Tournament where they lost a heart breaker 56-57 to Woods Cross. It was a great game, though I fear my unborn child might come out with a few permanent worry lines from the stress of the game. I’m just glad I wasn’t 8 months pregnant or I might have gone into labor right there on the sticky Dee Event Center floor. Hardy is disappointed, but at least the Titans played well and battled right to the end.

While I am sad we lost, I am looking forward to getting my husband back (at least until golf season starts :)

All the Good News

I was just going to post Hardy’s good news today, but as I read through my blog I realize that all I ever post is his good news since I haven’t told everyone my good news, so I guess I’ll share it all.

Hardy’s Good News
Marc has just been offered a very nice promotion within his company which he’s excited about. He was a little reluctant at first since he really loves what he is doing now, but the boss specifically selected him for the job (despite the fact that he didn’t apply for it), because he knew he could handle the challenges that the new job has in store. Way to go, baby! And the new position happily comes with more money, which we will need as a result of my good news.

Aimee’s Good News
For those who don’t know yet, I am pregnant. We’ve been reluctant to spread the news after our miscarriage last fall, but we’re now 15 weeks along and feeling good. We went to the doctor yesterday and he said everything seemed to be fine. We got to hear the heartbeat, though thanks to my sister Heather lending us her fetal Doppler heart monitor, we do that fairly often at home. :) I’ve gained 5 lbs so far, all right in my belly. I feel gigantic, and while I can still fit in most of my pants if I don’t do up the top button, shirts are a whole different matter. Thank goodness for my little sister Emily lending me a sack of maternity clothes last week or I might be limited to the 2 new blousy but non-maternity shirts I recently bought. I’m not a huge fan of this weird in between stage where I’m too fat for normal clothes but not big enough to really wear maternity. Blah.

Other than that, I can’t complain about being pregnant at all. I feel great now that I can stay awake past 8:30 p.m. Nausea has been limited, and other than my snoring problem which causes Hardy to wake up to roll me over half the night, I’m doing well. I am really glad that basketball is almost over though. My ability to sit through a whole game on those hard benches is really not what it used to be and getting worse by the week.

Only 175 days to go. And now that the cat's out of the bag, I'll probably post more often.

We are the Champions!!!

The Titans won their final game of the season last night over Cyprus High School in a real nail biter, 68 to 43. Ok, so it wasn’t the most interesting game to watch, but it was a great victory and secured Oly’s place as #1 in Region 6. A short time later we got the news that Cottonwood beat Murray, which also meant that we got to bask in the glory all alone rather than share the #1 spot with Murray who had also been tied for first place.

Hardy and the boys got to cut down the nets to celebrate their victory and then went into the locker room where they sprayed everyone down with sparkling cider. Hardy came home a few hours later sticky but overjoyed.

I was also particularly happy with the win since it means I'll hopefully be able to attend all their State Tournament games. It's also good news because if we had tied for first and lost the coin toss so we got the 2nd seed at the Tournament, we would have played my bosses sons team in the first round. Nothing good ever comes from cheering against the bosses son.
If ever a victory was earned, it was this year. Kudos to the coachs (Photos - Barnes, Weymouth, and Hardy) for their many sleepless nights that miraculously turned things around this season. Great job Titans!

Uneventful Holidays

Hardy and I are officially old and lazy. This year for Valentine’s we discussed going out to dinner, but decided it just wasn’t worth fighting the crowds so we ordered wings from Wingers and stayed home to watch “Lost” instead. Not overly romantic, but lovely nonetheless. We did make up for it on Saturday night when we went out for a very nice dinner and counted it as our Valentine’s celebration.

President’s Day was again, pretty lazy. Hardy had basketball practice all morning so I stayed home and did laundry and tried to clean out my closet a bit. I was amazed at how many single socks I had in my sock drawer. I’m also not sure why I had so many pairs of nylons. I hate nylons and rarely wear them – especially white. I had 3 pairs of brand new white nylons. What was I thinking? Since I believe that no one should ever wear white nylons (unless it’s your wedding day) I just threw them away rather then sending them to DI. No need to propagate the fashion faux pas on those less fortunate.

We also did a little house hunting Monday afternoon. We’re not quite ready yet, but we’re definitely thinking it would be nice to get a house and a yard now that house prices are finally coming down to a reasonable level and interest rates are low. We’re not positive where we want to end up yet, but we’re thinking maybe South Jordan since that’s where we both work. The next 3-4 weeks are going to be crazy with both of us in and out of town a lot, so as soon as we get back from all our adventures, we’ll probably get a realtor and start making some decisions. My only requirements are a 2 car garage, some storage space, a reasonably sized washroom, and maybe a vegetable garden. Hardy wants a nice family room where we can put a sectional couch and all his sports paraphernalia for him to enjoy while he’s watching his big TV. I think those are reasonable expectations so hopefully something great will come along. It also means we’ll be selling our condo, so if you know anyone who’s looking to buy a nice 3 bedroom townhouse in West Jordan, send them our way. :)

Go Titans!

The Olympus Titans are on a roll, winning their last 7 games. Last night they destroyed Granger, 78 to 56. Last time they played Granger we lost by 3, but since then the Titans have been unstoppable and we are now tied with Granger for first place in the Region. Looking at the results of last night's game, I think it's clear who is the better of the two teams.

On Friday we face Cottonwood, a team that has been playing well their past few games and should definitely give us a run for our money, but if Oly can keep playing like they did last night, we should be in great shape coming into the State Tournament. It was a rough start, but this season is definitely shaping up to be a fun one.

Go Titans!
